There are a ton of reasons why we invest in Ape Labs for our rental inventory. First of all, they are so easy and intuitive to use that even first-timers are able to figure them out in minutes. We never get calls from renters with technical questions. Similarly, they are so well-built (made 100% in Germany) that we can send them out with confidence, knowing they'll hold up for the customer and come back in one piece. They are even IP65 rated, so we don't have to worry about rain or spills.
Additionally, they have proven to be a superior product to the competition, and we find customers seeking them out because they know what Ape Labs can do. No competitor has a feature that comes close to Ape Labs' MusikMode. It offers a one-button light show to music (not even in the same ballpark as China's 'Sound Active'). They have on-the-fly programming within their app that is feature-rich yet fast and easy to use. You don't need to pre-program or even address the fixtures before setting them up. You can do all of that after they are set up in the venue in minutes. Their take on "programs" and "scenes" is much easier to use than DMX. But if you want to use DMX, you can. They are compatible with any DMX controller. Also, their app has a 1-mile wireless range.
Even their remote has a 200-foot non-directional range and is feature-rich enough to cover most use cases. With just nine buttons, you can do almost everything that you'd typically want to do with DMX, just way quicker and easier. They also have a super long battery life. With all colors on max, the Maxi lasts over 14 hours.
Another sought-after feature is their presets. The Ape Labs 2.0 series uses some of the highest quality optics in the world. They are nearly triple the brightness of their previous generation lights, which were already more efficient than the China lights on the market. So, you end up getting a lot more LUX per Watt out of these, but moreover, the colors are more vibrant than most. Plus, the actual preset macros were mixed by seasoned event industry professionals in the USA, not factory guys! So their 29 preset colors tend to be the most requested colors for the industry.
Plus, everything mentioned above applies to every Ape Labs product. Since all of them use the same software, they all play together in the same ecosystem, and mixing/matching products within the Ape Labs brand is a dream. With 29 built-in color presets designed specifically for the event industry by industry professionals, Maxi 2.0 allows the user to create incredible lighting designs with just the push of a button. Crafted in Germany with a careful balance of totally reengineered optics merged with the warmth of the AmberWhite LED technology, the Maxi 2.0 is the perfect fixture for uplighting, ambient lighting, dance floor lighting, stage lighting, and beyond.
Ape Labs is known to "Keep it Simple" when it comes to controlling lights. A beginner with no instructions can typically operate an Ape Labs fixture within seconds of picking up an ApeRemote or opening the app. But its simplicity does not lack in features. Two of the most famous features are "Grouping" and "MusikMode".
Grouping allows the user to create DMX-Like shows on the fly by grouping any number of mixed & matched Ape Labs SKUs on up to four groups. Then being able to control groups individually or universally.
MusikMode will automatically create a music-based light show with the press of a button. It uses proprietary technology that analyzes the sound in the room and total number of Ape Labs fixtures to build a constantly evolving light show. Just don't call it "Sound Active".
When comparing Ape Labs LUX values to competitor values, make sure to look at single color ratings. If only a single LUX value is given for a fixture, it's most likely an "All On" rating. This means that every color is combined when rating.
The Ape Labs Maxi 2.0 IP comes standard with 15° optics, but three alternative optics are available. Below are the LUX ratings for each color, with each beam angle, at both 1m and 2m distances.
